67 – Learn to look back from the future

BY STAN KONTOS

One of the greatest “mind exercises” I learnt years ago was the ability to fast forward in one or two years, then look back in time, back to the present moment. By doing this, it always eliminates anxiety and unhelpful worry.

If we do this exercise right now and look forward in two years time, we can see the world is now a much better place where everything is “open for business”. Scientists have now really understood the Coronavirus and we can understand, how contagious it really is, how it can be treated or prevented, how we could have reacted better in 2020, who should and should not worry about the virus, who is specifically at risk and how the conspiracy theories posted on social media are totally futile.

The world lockdown is a historical event, just like previous, past events and now there are new issues appearing that we need to think about. At some stage, every issue or challenge passes, we all get the learnings, we move on and we prepare for the next challenge in life.

So, if you ever have anxiety about a present event, just take your mind into the future and see the event passing and a new world in formation. Then you will be more present in the present, and less distracted with fear and worry.

Live with passion, stay on your life purpose, and always be at peace.

66 – Believe It and Achieve It

BY STAN KONTOS

If you reflect upon every exciting and great goal you have ever achieved, it was because you opened your mind to possibilities. Then you began believing in these possibilities. Following this belief, you took action when you saw an opening that could lead you to your aspiration. And eventually you achieved this aspirational goal.

I want us all to begin in believing in a better world. My belief is if we each create a series of empowering beliefs, we will then take the actions necessary to bring this into our reality at the appropriate time, once it is right to do so and collectively humanity can restore the world.

Here are positive empowering beliefs we can all begin reflecting upon daily from today onwards:

  1. Thank you for our world and people’s lives being restored.
  2. Thank you for the many people walking the streets, eating in cafe’s, enjoying a beer at the pub, attending a sporting game, going to a festival, and singing with joy in a concert, karaoke bar, church or theatre event.
  3. Thank you for gyms, pilates studios, and health and beauty establishments being open.
  4. Thank you for once again being able to enjoy working with my colleagues and having a laugh and a coffee with them.
  5. Thank you for retail therapy and the buzz of a shopping experience.
  6. Thank you for the celebration of weddings, barbecues and parties.
  7. Thank you for full classes in schools and universities and for the many events they host for parents and teachers to enjoy watching the future of our nation rise.
  8. Thank you for safe travel both interstate and international and for holidays to rest and restore our soul.
  9. Thank you for our health being protected from pestilence so we can all enjoy the journey of reaching old age.
  10. Thank you for humanity being restored where people can safely shake hands, hug one another and enjoy genuine caring human touch.
  11. Thank you for the gift of freedom, a healthy life, love amongst our family, neighbours and friends, ample jobs for everyone and thank you for peace.
  12. Thank you for teaching us the gift of appreciation where we now realise even more how fortunate we are and for realising the importance of assisting others in our communities. As well as assisting those less fortunate in other parts of the world, so they too can have the good life that has been restored to us.

I encourage you to read this daily and to share it with your friends.

“Believe it and Achieve it”.

Live with passion, stay on your life purpose, and always be at peace.

65 – Be Anxious for Nothing

BY STAN KONTOS

Wouldn’t it be great to get rid of anxiety, anxious thoughts, angst, fear, stress and any fearful thoughts and emotions?

I am sure at some stage in our life we have heard of the “flight and fight response”. In simplicity, the response of flight (fleeing, running away), or fight (to face it head on) was designed to protect us from extreme danger. It was never meant to be used on a daily basis because of a media story we read, or in reaction to what someone says. We are not meant to get any anxiety other than in life threatening situations.

We are essentially meant to live without anxiety or fear, but instead, with a sense of power, love for self, others and the world, and with a sound mind that is always able to think straight. So how can we retrain ourselves to be “be anxious for nothing” people? We need to realise that life is too short to keep worrying about things that may never happen. We need to understand that stress in any form is unhealthy, unhelpful and unwanted by people who want to live a more abundant life.

Make a decision today that you will never let any media story, any person, or any event cause you stress, unless it is life threatening and you need to escape quickly or fight it off. Make a commitment that you will not allow emotions to cloud your mind by distorting your thoughts after you read the media item, speak to the said person, or experience an event.

One of my very early advisors said to me, “Master your mind son. Learn to master your mind then you will have anything you want from life”. Yes, I know you will be thinking, “Easier said than done Stan!” I sympathise because yes, it sounds simple however it is not easy. It does require a lot of practice, however, when you arrive you will experience a self control that is quite profound and will allow you to prosper so much more in life. The secret is beginning today with a decision that you will become a, “Be Anxious For Nothing” person, and you will do whatever it takes to achieve this.

Decisions come first and answers come second. Once you decide that you want to master fear and all its variances, you will have entered the royal road to lifelong personal development and it is on this road that the destination will appear for you.

Best of luck – all I can say is it is a wonderful journey, the journey of self mastery.

Live with passion, stay on your life purpose, and always be at peace.

64 – Affirmations

BY STAN KONTOS

One of the most powerful tools to switch our mind fleeing away from the subconscious impact of media negativity and drawing night toward the light (positivity), is to declare positive statements over your life.

Construct a list of phrases that make you feel good with a sense of hope and excitement for the future.

Here are examples that may resonate with you, or you may wish to make up your own list:

  1. I am blessed
  2. I am confident
  3. I am victorious
  4. I am exceedingly abundant
  5. I am protected
  6. I am surrounded by great people
  7. Promotion and increase are coming my way
  8. Only good things come into my world
  9. I will never live in fear and fear will never live in me
  10. I am courageous
  11. I am kind
  12. I am compassionate
  13. I am creative
  14. Life is great
  15. I am grateful
  16. Great opportunities are appearing before me

I hope the above inspire you. Make it a habit to say them everyday (even better twice a day) and watch how your mindset shifts.

Remember the toughest steel is forged in the hottest oven.

Let’s turn every challenge into an opportunity so we can come out stronger, better and wiser than before.

63 – Out with the old, in with the new

BY STAN KONTOS

Have you ever noticed that history repeats itself?

For those of us that studied history (I did a long time ago in High School), it is incredible how many times we human beings repeat the past. Let’s look at the share market, there is always a period of growth (the bull market) followed by a period of losses (the bear market). Or how we do relationships with others – always a period of good relations followed by a period of some awkwardness (or issues). Or even our health – good periods and not so good periods. One of the keys to all issues is they eventually pass, “this too shall pass”.

I have been reflecting on a wisdom from the old testament as follows, “Do not remember the former things, nor reason about the things of old. Behold I will do new things, which shall now spring forth, and you shall know them: and I will make a road in the desert and rivers in the waterless places”, which effectively could be translated into, “Out with the old and in with the new- let’s now look for the positives that will occur”. What this wisdom is saying to us is that we need to stop focussing on the problem all the time or the mistakes of the past. What’s done is done, we need to let it go. What we now need to focus on is the future, we need to generate hope and joy and go into the future seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

So it is whether it is a personal challenge, or a community challenge, or a world challenge, the laws of life do not change.

We all need to stop focussing on the past and stop getting caught up in the problem and begin instilling hope into ourselves and others around us for a bright and exciting future. If we take into account the present coronavirus situation, continually looking at the numbers rising or listening to the media (the media is always trying to alarm us), it is not healthy for our thought life. We need to begin affirming what we want and bring hope filled words into our vocabulary.

Perhaps we could think and declare the following:

  1. It is great to see the world coming together, humanity will win, I am sure a solution is on its way
  2. How amazing that we have all slowed down to spend more time with our loved ones, it’s so nice to slow down and connect deeper with ourselves and our loved ones
  3. There are hundreds of scientists working around the clock for a medication or vaccine or both, there are exciting times ahead. With every race is a winner
  4. What incredible leaders we have to help steer us all to safety – thank you Prime Ministers and Presidents for being great stewards

When we program our mind to think this way and we speak this way, we begin to feel so much more empowered and hopeful. And when a nation of people has hope, inevitably a solution is found. You see, to become creative (to create a solution), we need to feel good, we need to feel inspired and we need to be “can do” people, a “can do nation”, and a “can do” world. Let’s all get excited and take our mind into the sphere of creativity and hope as that is where the solutions to all of mankind’s issues are. This is where the “roads in the desert and rivers in the waterless places” exists.

Mankind has always risen above challenges because it understands the workings of the mind given as a gift from the Creator to each and everyone of us. We were designed to experience life and its issues and to rise above all challenges and from this, become better human beings than before – the elevation of our consciousness.

Hope, inspiration and creativity with a  can do attitude will bring results in any area of your life.

Live with passion, stay on your purpose and always be at peace.

62 – #covid19 (Coronavirus): here’s my research to date (at 25 March 2020)

BY STAN KONTOS

Here is my research to date for us to gain a better understanding around Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and how to be a part of a great Australia staying on top of the spread, so we can slow down the impact on our hospital system.

  1. Our government is doing a great job; they got off the mark quickly and are using a staged approach from best practice seen in other countries. Note: Singapore is by far the best.
  2. The far majority of cases to date have been linked to overseas travel, hence why our Prime Minister closed the borders to international travel.
  3. 80 per cent of people who happen to get it will experience simple cold flu-like symptoms. Note: this is not influenza, however, has similar symptoms.15 per cent will need to see a doctor. However, 5 per cent may need high level medical care (hospital) and most of these will be the vulnerable people of our society.
  4. The vulnerable are: elderly and people with pre-existing illnesses (e.g. heart issues, diabetes, immune issues such as cancer).
  5. The strategy used by our government is to “flatten the curve”. What this means is keep the spread low so our hospitals can cope with any potential influx of the 5 per cent who need urgent attention especially over the winter period coming up.
  6. The overall worldwide death rate of 4 per cent shows it is something we need to be diligent in its management – most deaths are skewed to the elderly and to those with pre-existing illnesses. The good news is, I see trends in other countries (e.g. South Korea) of current death rates being under 1 per cent (it is still a bit early to be conclusive here, but it certainly is looking good) and Singapore is also below 1 per cent and are managing it well (I think they are the best in the world). If we want to be a high performing country, we need to model excellence, just like being the best at anything – model success.
  7. The key includes cleanliness – wash your hands regularly with soap and water is key; no need to worry if you cannot find hand sanitizers guys. Just keep clean and avoid touching your face and have common sense in following the government policies around self-isolation.
  8. Heaps of background work is happening with vaccines and drugs – not sure when a breakthrough will occur.
  9. Countries that have high levels of testing and management programs, for example, tracking systems being used in Singapore and South Korea are working well.

What can we as a country and state do better?

  1. More readily available testing. For example, South Korea is doing something like 8,000 tests per day.
  2. Have better tracking systems (use of technology would be helpful).
  3. Faster testing – taking up to 48 hours here this past week to get results is way too long. Singapore gets results in 4 hours! That’s why they are the best.
  4. Have a back-up plan of hospital beds. We are getting there here in South Australia with creating another 188 beds via the old Wakefield Hospital and a site located on North East Road.

What can we each as individuals do to make things better?

  1. Calm people down and encourage others that our government is best in class with the right strategies in place.
  2. Stop the fear overreaction – toilet paper and food will not run out.
  3. Stop comparing ourselves to countries that were too slow off the mark and are now struggling –the media is irresponsible here.
  4. Avoid anxiety in yourself or in your fellow man as this may bring a future spike in mental health issues from hyper sensitisation (stress).
  5. Be kind to people, encourage them, educate them and help them as your fellow human beings. Be happy and positive. It is a virus and we all need to do our part to keep the numbers down so we can keep the death rate down, it is all about management until a vaccine or drug is discovered.
  6. Don’t fall for incorrect articles in the media. At the same time, please follow government policies as they are there to help us all. Stick to the facts. Death rates are very low at the moment but we need to get total infection numbers stabilising.
  7. Think about our economy. Panic and fear just makes things worse – support small businesses where possible.
  8. Live daily as our Prime Minister has told us recently. If the government wants us to change anything because the numbers are going the wrong way they will tell us – they are watching the numbers for us in advance with the medical professionals and making decisions. Just follow the strategy and we will continue to be a high performing country. If the numbers show we need to get tighter with strategy they will let us know.
  9. Live and enjoy each day and stay away from worry or stress. Be diligent.
  10. Let’s all project positivity for the future for a significant breakthrough – a vaccine or drug that will put this to bed (just like we did with the flu and other issues in the past, e.g. smallpox).

I hope this information is valuable to you.

Live with passion, stay on your life purpose, and always be at peace.

61 – From Fear to Faith

BY STAN KONTOS

Whilst the media (both traditional and social) is important to disseminate information and issues to mankind for the betterment of everyone, we also need to be wary when we observe unnecessary alarmism in the media and headlines which create irrational fear in susceptible unprepared minds.

As human beings we are designed to activate the fight-flight response only when there is immediate life threatening danger that needs immediate addressing. Other than having an animal or irrational human about to attack us, we then need to question the views imposed upon us by others and revert to our logical and peace seeking selves – operating in a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.

Be mindful of what you allow to permeate into your mind for not all thoughts, headlines and stories are helpful.

Whilst I am not advocating ignorance on matters, I do encourage us to go to a quiet place and reflect on what is real, what is likely, and what you can control rather than focus on what you cannot control.

Life is a journey which involves tribulations that require us to access a higher power within every one of us which then helps us to rise above the issues at hand.

As an entrepreneur, it is during the difficulties that I have learnt the most, developed myself the most, and gained the most.

Go forth with faith that all will work out for those who have their source of strength from within. We live in a great country, with great leadership and a blessed life available for everyone.

Live with passion, stay on your life purpose, and always be at peace.

60 – Open your mind to open your world

BY STAN KONTOS

Today I want to talk about the importance of having an “open mind”. It is interesting as most people think they have an open mind until they realise they need to work on their thinking.

Let’s begin by analysing the key measure that shows us our mind is closed. How do we know we have a closed mind? Well, we know so because we are not progressing in an area of our lives. For example, if our income is the same or similar this year to last year then we haven’t learnt how to give more value. And if we do not give more value (as in the case of an employee or a business owner) our income does not increase. What about our friendships?  If we have the same friends year in, year out and do not create 1-2 new close friendships per year, then we are working with a closed mindset for it is our friendships that lead to advancements in every area of our lives. Or if we have not grown spiritually (closer to The Creator) one year from the previous then it is likely we have not operated at a higher frequency with our thinking to achieve this – we have remained the same and not grown in this area.

I encourage you to look at every area of your life (health, friendships, relationships, finances, business/career, leisure, self development and spiritual development) and review if you have grown in the past year. If not, I can virtually guarantee that you now need to open your mind to new possibilities and explore them without judgement.

Open your mind to further open your world. Life is a transient state for your soul and you are here to experience more than the same as last year. You are here to grow, to give, and to leave a legacy. Every human being is created with awesome potential. However this potential needs to be unlocked by opening the mind. The mind is the gateway to a style of life. In 5 years time that you can only dream of today.

If you what to learn more about the power of coaching, click on the link to our Platinum Program and investigate the power of expanding your mindset.

To take your life to the next level, you need to let go of limiting beliefs and fears holding you back today and install empowering beliefs that will take you to where you want to go. This is the secret to mindset development. And being around the right people is the key to mindset success.

I wish you the very best of luck (you create your own luck through your thoughts) in your career, relationships, finances, spirituality and every other area of your life.

Live with passion, stay on your life purpose, and always be at peace.

59 – Speak that which you want to be, do and have in life

BY STAN KONTOS

Happy New Year – I hope this year is an exciting one for you, full of wisdom and great achievements.

Many of us set new year goals and thankfully many of us look or think about our key goals daily which is fantastic – this is so important if we are to make manifest that which we desire in life. There is another step that many of us do not implement effectively and that is to create a new annual Affirmation List inclusive of our goals that we speak verbally each and every day. I make a new Affirmation List each year and it details who I want to become, what I want to be doing with my life, and what I want to have – that is, what are my priorities and focuses in life for the year. In this information age, our mind is bombarded with so much that we need to retrain it to focus and hence allow the relevant information in, so we can be processing thoughts that are linked to the way we want to live and linked to the goals we desire to achieve.

One of the ways you can do an affirmation list is to look at your Life Wheel (career, finances, leisure, family, relationship, spirituality, personal development and health) and affirm how you want to be living in each area of your life, as well as affirming your goals. Another method I use, is to review my limiting beliefs (what I find it hard to believe I can achieve) and then create thoughts that I have actually achieved the outcome.

The key to affirmations is to verbalise with gratitude as if you have already achieved the outcome. Faith is about turning the invisible (your thoughts) into the visible (manifestation).

Here are some examples:

  1. I am blessed with doors opening and opportunities abound. No weapon formed around me can prosper.
  2. I am so happy and grateful now that I am earning $XX per month for my business investments. It is so. Thank you.

I am a big believer in prayer and positive thinking and I link the two together. My experience has been that we need to get ourselves into a state of gratitude by focusing on what is good in our lives and when in this state, to project in our mind and language the goal which we are desiring in our heart to bring into our life, and as we are projecting this goal to remain in a state of absolute certainty that we will achieve it and at the same time to remain in a state of gratefulness (gratitude). My belief is that if this goal is aligned to the purpose the creator has for your life, then it will come to pass and manifest in your life. With time, you will know what is aligned to your life purpose because you will feel it in your heart. The benefit of time and wisdom has taught me this.

So begin today by sitting down and creating a simple one page Affirmation List with 5 to 20 affirmations which depict how your life will evolve this year, who you will become, what you will do and what goals you will achieve.

Live with passion, stay on your life purpose, and always be at peace.

58 – Am I Spiritual or am I Religious?

A lot of people ask what is the difference between being spiritual and being religious? It is not an easy question to answer so I will give it my best. My own personal experience has been that early on in my formative years I had a religious outlook and as I have gotten older (I’m only middle age, and still have plenty of years in me) it has developed into a spiritual outlook. I will explain spirituality vs. religious both from an existing and ongoing Christian perspective (I can be religious through a faith or I can be spiritual) however I respect that each of us has different views and it is all a part of being open minded and developing ourselves to grow.

When I was younger, religious to me meant doing things in a certain way without really knowing why or without really questioning why I was doing it. A lot of it was done out of fear or guilt. It was really a man-made interpretation imposed on me and a way of getting people to behave in a certain way. Basically you do it because you do not know any better or a better way. It is a bit like a daughter cooking a dish a certain way because that’s the way mum used to cook it and that’s how she was taught. If we delve historically, we find out mum cooked the dish this way because grandma cooked it this way. And grandma cooked it this way because great grandma taught her this way. And so forth. However when we do things without questioning it generally is not very beneficial for us. To get out of a religious context and get the most out of a renewed spiritual pathway, we need to experience it, embed the experience, allow it to transform us, and then notice how we become more spiritual in nature.

Spirituality is a change not only in mindset but also in our heart. So we experience a mind-heart transformation that changes our personality without us having to try, such that we do not need to operate out of fear or guilt anymore, but rather we begin to operate out of faith which involves a beautiful combination of love, joy, peace and hope. This transformation happens because we apply strategies that have worked for others and generally these strategies involve being open minded with our outlook, stilling our mind through meditation, and learning the process of prayerfulness (how to pray).

We then allow the unconscious spiritual experience from doing these three simple things to alter our thinking and our heart and then our outlook changes. This is accompanied with a change in natural emotional states (we naturally transcend from feeling fear, sadness, hurt, guilt, and anger) to being calm, loving, joyful, peaceful and positive in our thoughts, words and deeds.

The spiritual (spirit filled) path is of course the path that leads to enlightenment and a more abundant life as living now without negative emotions (about 95% of the time there are no traces of negativity) allows us to be more productive in our work or business, wiser with our decisions especially under stress, a calmer influence with those in our environment, a nicer person with our relationships, and forward thinking in our life approach.

I hope this sheds some light into the importance of incorporating spiritual practice into your daily life as part of the balanced approach in becoming a more effective human being and leader.
