Words of Inspiration
One of the great benefits of having a greater level of mindfulness and in turn having a more positive outlook with your thinking is that you will have a much better life. You will see life from a “glass half full” perspective rather than a “glass half empty” outlook. Having said that, life will always throw at you “The Three T’s” – tests, tribulations, and trials. It is during these difficult periods that we adopt a greater posture of humility and our character is shaped. It is almost like a maturing of our soul. As much as we all do not like the three T’s, they are real and inevitably help us grow into better people both personally and spiritually.
I always say that if you have a life that is 80 percent great, you are doing well. The 80/20 rule unfortunately means that 20% of the time you will be challenged to grow through the process of life that applies to all of us. Now let me bring you into a little secret….whatever you are seeking, is also seeking you. We are all here to grow and to give. So we can wait around for a life event to wake us up and help us grow or we can be proactive and grow through stretching ourselves with our goals. I know which one I prefer!
At SOL Results we encourage you to stay on the path of personal & professional growth – it is better for you to grow through challenging yourself rather than sit around doing nothing and be surprised with a life event forcing you to grow. For example, you could grow your education on healthy eating and exercising and so stretch yourself by developing good eating habits as well as doing exercise daily or you could neglect your health (by eating unhealthy and living a sedentary life) and be faced with a health event one day that will force you to then adopt healthy eating and exercising! How many times have we heard stories of people living unhealthily only to have a major illness (eg heart attack) change their life such that they now eat healthy and walk everyday (as well as stop smoking).
Let’s always aim to grow through purposeful activities and goals and hopefully avoid life giving us a “wake up call”. In conclusion, remember the 80/20 rule that with mindfulness and positivity in thought, you can achieve a life that is over 80% of the time a good day everyday. However, there will also be challenging periods to help you grow in character and maturity as a human being. Learn to appreciate the challenges as periods of personal and spiritual growth. And learn to put in more personal challenges (personal goals) to reduce the number of tests, tribulations & trials that come your way.
Live not with fear, but with power, love and a sound mind.
