Words of Inspiration | Are you learning from your mistakes or re-living them?
How often do we make mistakes in life thinking that we must be the only ones that seem to have “stuffed up”? The sort of stuff ups I am referring to are where something was said by us that shouldn’t have been said or something was done that wasn’t right or a behaviour was conducted in a wrongful manner. Well, the truth is, every one of us makes mistakes, makes them regularly, and will continue to do so as we experience more and more of life. The secret is not to make the same mistake twice. It is also worth noting that if we do not learn the first time and change our ways, the second time will be much more challenging than the first. We’ve all heard the saying ‘Hey, get over it”…the key though, is knowing a proven process for overcoming these psychological “molehills” before they turn into mental “mountains”.
When we encounter a life mistake, we must follow a process of resolution. Once you learn the process, it really is very simple and will give you great certainty that it will not be repeated. Firstly, you must acknowledge the error in thought, word, behaviour, or deed. If we do not raise our awareness to it, how will we learn? It is here that pain can be your greatest motivator…use acute doses of pain to control your personal development instead of allowing chronic ongoing pain to control you.
Secondly, promise to yourself that this will never be allowed to occur again. This promise will only be as good as the effort placed into the first step of acknowledgement and awareness. In other words, the stronger the pain felt, the stronger the promise will become. But don’t stay in the painful awareness state too long…acute pain means short term pain…admit it, feel it and get over it (if you have wronged someone, consider personally apologizing as it has amazing benefits to one’s psyche).
Thirdly, surrender to a higher authority whatever that means for you, and enter a state of peace over it. Every one of us has a particular word that acknowledges that we are part of an evolving universe with many things that we do not understand but are willing to learn. For some people the word is Christ, for others it is Spirit, or God or Grace….use the word that works for you.
Once you have successfully resolved the life issue, be grateful for this issue as it has revealed a personal block to yourself, and for being given the opportunity to learn and grow into a better person. The more you learn to forgive yourself, the better you will become in forgiving others. And this greater level of inner peace will give you the psychological and emotional capacity to get more out of life. Let’s continue the year in a resolved and positive mindset ready for a new set of opportunities and challenges.
Discover and give, and you will live in peace and joy all the days of your life.
Live with passion, stay on your life purpose, and always be at peace.
