71 – Setting in Great Habits from the Great Reset
BY STAN KONTOS
For those of us in Australia, we are beginning to see the gradual staged return of activity in our society, like the resumption of work in offices, for example.
During the lockdown period, I am sure we all experienced benefits that we would like to keep in our life going forward. For some of us it may be the games night and the extra movies we watched together with our family, or the extra effort we put into making our meals a tastier experience, or the sitting down talking without rushing, or the extra daily walks in the parklands, or the greeting of our neighbours, or the extra reading we enjoyed, or the profound meditation or prayer we engaged in, or the extra time we spent with our pets, or value of technology in communicating with others, or whatever else you noticed that was simple yet valuable.
Whatever benefit we have received during this lockdown experience, I encourage you to write it down and ensure you look at it everyday as a reminder of what new habits are now important in your life. Let’s not fall into old habits which may not be resourceful anymore, rather take those new world habits you discovered with you as you gradually resume your old world. If you do not have a way to preserve these new world learnings then they will become a distant memory and this personal growth experience will not have as much impact.
Every cloud has a silver lining, so decide right at this moment what it is you now value in your life, what is really important, and make it your very own new habit. Your life is a series of habits and I hope one day we can all reflect gracefully from a position of old age that we saw the good in every experience and kept incorporating the best habits as we discovered them, such that our life was gradually constructed like a work of fine art, go forth and continue to make your life a masterpiece.
