Breakfast at the Next Level | The Power Of Change
On the first Wednesday of the month, some of South Australia’s most successful and motivated people get together over breakfast to discuss, learn, share and grow – personally and professionally.
Join us for a morning of inspiration and impact as we host Ian Steel, the visionary founder of KickStart for Kids, at our exclusive breakfast event. Ian’s story is one of compassion, determination, and the belief that every child deserves an equal chance in life.
In 2009, Ian Steel observed a critical issue affecting “at-risk” primary school children – hunger hindering their ability to concentrate and learn. As a builder by trade, Ian took matters into his own hands, starting a breakfast program that evolved into KickStart for Kids in 2011. The organization runs breakfast, lunch, and mentoring programs in South Australian schools, addressing not only hunger but also fostering positive educational outcomes.
Reserve your spot now and be part of a movement that believes in unlocking the potential of every child. Let’s come together to celebrate the power of education and ensure no child’s potential is hindered by hunger or hardship.

About our guest
Ian Steel established KickStart for Kids, a not for profit organisation, after mentoring “at risk” primary school children. In 2009 Ian noticed that the children he was mentoring were always hungry and could not concentrate properly. After consulting with teachers and students it was discovered that of kids in lower socio-economic areas were coming to school without breakfast and no lunch.
A builder by trade, Ian started making sandwiches to take to schools before he went to work. In 2011 he founded KickStart for Kids on the belief that every child, regardless of their social or economic background, should have an equal chance.
On Australia Day 2017 Steel was recognised in the General Division of the Order of Australia for his service to children through social welfare programs.

Not all kids have the same start in life. KickStart for kids was founded in 2011 on the belief that every child, regardless of their social or economic background, should have an equal chance. We do this by running breakfast, lunch and mentoring programs in South Australian schools. We also provide basic clothing and healthcare needs.
EDUCATION equals POWER and OPPORTUNITY
If children are hungry or encounter hardship, they are not able to fully engage at school, therefore, not achieving educational outcomes. We know from research that children who grow up in hardship are more likely to be uneducated, and live in hardship as adults. KickStart for Kids endeavours to level the playing field.
Ian started a breakfast program in 2009 and noticed immediate results. Kids became happy, friendly, were able to concentrate and had a much greater ability to learn.
Today KickStart for Kids supports over 300 South Australian Schools, providing around 40,000 breakfasts and 10,000 lunches per week with 600 volunteers.
